About HCD

Our mission and values

Hope and Care for Development (HCD) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization founded on January 13, 2024, in Yambio, Western Equatoria State, South Sudan. Our mission is to empower marginalized communities and promote sustainable development, peace, and peaceful coexistence. We are guided by values ​​of equality, transparency, respect for human rights, conflict sensitivity, and accountability, prioritizing women, children, youth, persons with disabilities, the elderly, refugees, and internally displaced persons.

Our work areas

We work in key areas such as health, basic and adult education, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), child and women's protection, community resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and community reconciliation.

WASH Program HCD

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene

HCD improves access to clean water by drilling boreholes, promotes safe sanitation practices, and raises awareness about hygiene to reduce disease and improve overall health in rural communities.

WECP Program HCD

Women’s Empowerment & Child Protection

This initiative works to prevent gender-based violence, protect children’s rights, and provide women and girls with skills, opportunities, and safe spaces to thrive and participate in community development.

Education & Capacity Building

HCD supports basic and adult education, literacy, and numeracy programs. It also provides training to strengthen community leadership and build local capacities for long-term development.
